About

Paz Méndez is an Eco-Friendly Printmaker specializing in Hand Carved Block Prints.

Paz got into printmaking in 2017 working as a commercial printer at various print shops in Oregon. He learned how to Screen Print and operate high speed Lithographic Printing Presses (offset). He developed his passion for printmaking by staying late after work, and going in on the weekends, to print his own artwork.

His search for making his art look more handmade and less digitally polished led him to Linocut. Paz taught himself to carve Linoluem Blocks and he used his printmaking experience to start printing limited edition runs. Now Linocut is his favorite medium and he makes a living as a full time working artist.

Paz still has a love for Screen Printing and uses this method to make reproduction serigraphs of his linocut designs in other sizes/colors. He does not believe in outsourcing any of his printmaking and prints everything in his studio by hand, one at a time (yes, even his business cards!) He enjoys selling his art at local markets in Eugene, OR and fine art shows in the PNW.

Eco-Friendly Archival Serigraphs
What is a serigraph? A serigraph is a fine art screen print made in close collaboration with the artist. Different than other screen printed items, it is not mass produced. Serigraphs are printed one at a time and are archival. Although it is a reproduction of pre-existing artwork it is still considered an original print because making a serigraph requires printmaking knowledge and is a hands on process. It is made by a human, not a computer. Digital prints are the most common way to photocopy artwork, and giclees are the most popular reproduction prints in other art forms. Making a serigraph is such a specialized process that it is a work of art in it's own right, and therefore is more valuable than a giclee (photocopy).

All serigraphs sold here are hand-printed by the artist himself. Paz has developed his own way of adapting his hand-carved designs to the screen printing process. Printed in small batches, all serigraphs are signed & dated by the artist.

Waterbased inks are non-toxic and archival.
100% recycled archival paper made in a hydropowered paper mill.
"Plastic" protective sleeves on serigraphs are made from plant oil and are commercially compostable!

Recycled Cotton Tote Bags
Paz screen prints his own artwork on both sides of the bag, so you'll never have a blank side facing out!

Waterbased ink is non-toxic and permanent

Machine wash cold. Hang Dry.

Sustainable Cork Coasters
Paz hand-prints all his own artwork, in a simplified form, directly onto the coasters.

The natural cork absorbs moisture well and the eco-friendly ink is not affected by the moisture, the artwork does not smear when wet!

Cork coasters are used since the cork is made from tree bark, the tree never gets cut down and will re-grow more bark, making this cork sustainable!

Non-toxic, permanent ink is used.
Hand wash with soap & water. Air dry.

Limited Edition Archival Linocut Prints
Paz only does one print run for each hand-carved block. It is a Limited Edition and the block is canceled afterwards making it impossible to reprint. Limited Edition Prints are available in person at local markets in Eugene, OR and art shows in the PNW.
