Belonging

Inspired by the longevity of trees and their important role in a healthy ecosystem. I was meditating on how trees have such a sense of belonging, being rooted in place.

To make, 'Belonging', I started with a pencil sketch on a piece of art linoleum. Then I used hand carving tools to cut each detail into the lino. Slowly the artwork came to life, one cut at a time. After I finished carving the block, I rolled linseed oil ink onto the raised surface (above my cut marks), and printed the lino block onto fine art recycled paper.

Hand inking techniques create unique prints, each one an original work of art. Colors vary during the printmaking process, photos are representative of the print you will receive.
