My Morel design is inspired by the mushrooms of the northwest. Mushrooms are the new growth off of the decay of old life, completing the circle of life. A sun in one corner and a moon in the other symbolize the natural cycles of life. A fiddlehead and sword fern appear at the bottom since they are popping up around the same time as morels in the wild. A zigzag pattern on the morel base reminds us that our path goes on winding into the distance, never arriving, always going through cycles.
I created Morel by hand-carving my design into a block of linoleum. I then rolled ink onto the lino by hand, and used a manual etching press to hand-crank the lino & paper through to make the print.
Printed one at a time on recycled paper with eco-friendly oil based inks. Hand inking and blended roll techniques create unique prints, each one an original. Photos are representative of the print you will receive.
