I heard a story somewhere about how crows can fly in between the dream world and waking life, as an artist I thought it was an interesting idea and it stuck with me long enough to inspire this artwork. The cloud in the crow's claws represent dreams, and the rain falls down from the cloud like normal, and also upwards to a puddle at the top. Just like how in dreams things can be upside down or not make sense, I played with this theme a little here. The lightning bolt in the crows eye represents the storm of life and dreams, the chaos surrounding us always.

I created 'Carrying Dreams in the Eye of the Storm' by hand-carving each detail into a single block of linoleum, one color layer at a time. After printing the first layer of color, I permanently removed that layer by carving it away, and revealing the next layer. Then I printed the next color layer on top of the previous one, allowing my oil based inks to dry for two weeks in between each layer. By the end of the process my lino block is destroyed and I can never reprint the design.

Printed one at a time on recycled fine art paper with linseed oil inks. Hand inking techniques create unique prints, each one an original. Colors vary during the printmaking process, photos are representative of the print you will receive.
