A little honey bee with a fat pollen sack on it's leg, approaches a purple crocus. Crocus flowers generate their own warmth, often melting their way through the snow to be one of the first flowers to bloom every year. Tired bees find the warmth comforting and take naps in the cozy flowers.
I created 'In the Warmth of Spring' by hand-carving each detail into a single block of linoleum, one color layer at a time. After printing the first layer of color, I permanently removed that layer by carving it away, and revealing the next layer. Then I printed the next color layer on top of the previous one, allowing my oil based inks to dry for two weeks in between each layer. I did three colors layers total. By the end of the process my lino block is destroyed and I can never reprint the design.
Printed one at a time on recycled fine art paper with linseed oil inks. Hand inking techniques create unique prints, each one an original. Colors vary during the printmaking process, photos are representative of the print you will receive.
This unframed original linocut print comes with an archival mat and archival backing board. Fits an 8"x10" frame (common frame sized, widely available). Frame not included.
